Role overview
Hardie Grant Children’s Publishing (HGCP) is seeking a highly organised and detail-focused Brands Project Editor to join their Brands team. This role will support the HGCP Brands team in producing best-in-class publishing through the coordination and project management of books across their portfolio of globally beloved brands, including Winnie-the-Pooh, Star Wars, Miffy, Barbie, Sesame Street, and Peanuts.
Working closely with the Head of Brands & Product and Brand Manager, you will help bring a range of exciting, brand publishing projects to life. This involves coordinating projects, managing approvals, providing editorial support, and ensuring titles are delivered accurately, on time, and to a high standard. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across multiple projects, has a sharp eye for detail, and is excited by the combination of editorial, project coordination, and book publishing.
Responsibilities
- Project manage assigned HGCP Brands titles from project set-up through to final files, maintaining schedules and coordinating key milestones.
- Coordinate licensor approvals, including preparing and submitting materials, communicating feedback internally, and tracking approvals through to completion.
- Provide editorial support, including proofreading, checking corrections, and reviewing files.
- Coordinate project materials, including file sourcing, file management, and briefing materials.
- Support the Brand Manager with creative and editorial briefs, including collating brand guidelines, comparative titles, reference materials, and assets.
- Create and maintain accurate title metadata in Firebrand and refresh backlist metadata and materials as required.
- Support the Head of Brands & Product and Brand Manager with research, information gathering, document preparation, and other portfolio-related tasks.
- Work collaboratively with Design, Production, Sales, Marketing, and Administration to support the smooth delivery of projects.
Requirements
- Highly organised, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, with strong proofreading and file-checking skills.
- Previous experience in an editorial role is preferred.
- Ideally 2-3 years of experience in book publishing or a complementary industry (e.g., brands, licensing, toys).
- A clear and proactive communicator who enjoys working collaboratively.
- Comfortable working across both editorial and project coordination tasks.
- Interested in developing skills and capability across publishing, editorial coordination, and project management.
- Responsive, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality work.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hybrid working from their state-of-the-art Collingwood office (VIC).
- Competitive salary.
- Learning and development programs.
- The opportunity to shape commercial performance across ANZ and work with a passionate, collaborative team in a values-driven independent publishing business.
- Permanent, full-time opportunity.
- Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000 per annum + 12% superannuation.
