Role overview
We are looking for a Database Administrator to join our Cloud Operations team and help run reliable, secure, scalable, and cost-efficient production platforms across a multi-cloud, multi-region, geo-distributed environment. The role is hands-on, database management heavy, and operationally focused, supporting SaaS services and infrastructure that must remain highly available and performant.
You will work closely with engineering, security, and product teams to support day-to-day operations, improve automation, strengthen observability, and reduce cloud waste through disciplined resource management.
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in our Bangalore office.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL database servers on AWS RDS
- Maintain and enhance the existing AWS/Azure database infrastructure and services
- Design and execute overall cloud database architecture strategy, standards, and practices
- Monitor production and non-production environments, troubleshoot and resolve incidents
- Utilize Pg Admin, Pg dump, Pg restore, Pg upgrade, Pg Badger, Pg Backrest, mysqldump, Percona Xtrabackup, SQL/PLSQL, shell and/or Python scripting, and other tools to proactively identify areas of optimization and troubleshoot database performance issues
- Manage database schema maintenance and migrations
- Improve service availability and scalability through tuning, automation, tools, and processes
- Implement and maintain database backup and recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Attend service request ticket queue regularly and resolve tickets
- Manage tenant rebalancing across multiple databases during the weekly maintenance window
- Work closely with various stakeholders to ensure feature enhancements, security, uptime, and scalability requirements
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule and respond to occasional off-hour outages and take part in subsequent service restoration efforts
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing PostgreSQL and MySQL databases on AWS RDS
- 2-3 years of experience managing database infrastructure on AWS and/or Azure
- Cloud database administration certification in either AWS or Azure
- Experience with administering Oracle and SQL Server databases is a plus
