Role overview
Wiley is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our Design and Engineering business unit, supporting complex projects in the food and industrial industries. As Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process, ensuring documentation is complete, buildable, and delivered to a high standard. Working closely with clients, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and project teams, you will help turn complex requirements into practical, efficient design solutions that support budgets, delivery programs, and successful construction outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all stages of the design process across allocated projects
- Manage design documentation programs to support quality, on-time delivery
- Guide and mentor Design Coordinators, building a collaborative, high-performing team
- Select, engage, and coordinate subconsultants, integrating their work into the overall design
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, consultants, suppliers, and construction teams
- Ensure designs meet technical requirements and are optimized for buildability
- Manage design budgets, schedules, quality standards, and project objectives
- Take ownership of the quality and completeness of design documentation
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing across projects
Qualifications
- 10 years’ relevant industry experience, ideally in design or engineering
- Proven experience managing projects, design teams, and external consultants
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced Revit capability
- Practical understanding of constructability, design coordination, and project delivery
- Ability to manage design programs, budgets, and quality requirements
