In this Editor - Content Review role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the quality and integrity of cutting-edge research published at Taylor & Francis. You will be responsible for content validation through desk assessment of submissions and published content to ensure alignment with Taylor & Francis’ quality and ethical benchmarks. You will report to the Lead – Content Review and join a team of Content Review Editors.

This role is ideal for an individual with exceptional attention to detail, a proactive approach to process improvement and problem-solving, and a passion for upholding publishing ethics and integrity. Excellent communication skills are essential for managing sensitive and complex stakeholder relationships, including authors, editors, suppliers, and colleagues. Given the subject matter, individuals with a Post-Graduate background, preferably in a STEM subject, are well-suited to understand the scientific context of the articles.

What you'll do

  • Conduct content integrity screening of submissions to ensure adherence to editorial policy, research integrity standards, journal scope suitability, and ethical/quality guidelines.
  • Assess articles for image quality, plagiarism issues, and other related concerns.
  • Support other desk assessment teams with the resolution of escalations and queries.
  • Assist the wider Publishing Ethics and Integrity team in delivering strategic initiatives, including journal ethics audits, research integrity tool testing, and ethics investigations.
  • Liaise effectively with authors, reviewers, academic editors, and internal editorial teams regarding manuscript completion requirements and timelines.
  • Manage the quality of content integrity screening services through problem-solving, data analysis, process improvement identification, effective feedback, and collaboration with the Publishing Ethics and Integrity and Editorial Operations teams.
  • Stay updated with internal and external guidelines on ethical publication practices.
  • Provide excellent and empathetic customer service, managing internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide project support to the Team Lead as required, including process optimization, data analysis for test journals, training, meetings, and workshops.
  • Handle confidential information sensitively, considering legal and ethical implications.
  • Manage your own learning, identifying and developing skill gaps, and actively sharing knowledge.

Qualifications

  • A post-graduate qualification in a STEM subject.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the journal peer review process.
  • An interest in and awareness of academic publishing, research integrity, and publishing ethics.
  • Confident communication skills (email, phone, in-person) with a strong command of English spelling and grammar.
  • Knowledge and experience of process-driven workflows.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, accurate, and a problem-solver.
  • Excellent organizational skills and confidence in completing multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities.
  • Good persuasion and influencing skills, showing empathy for others’ viewpoints.
  • Flexibility to adjust to changes in work plans or assignments.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  • Some experience with online submission platforms like ScholarOne™ or Editorial Manager® would be advantageous, though full training is available.

When you’re not spending time together in one of our offices or other workplaces – like at a conference – you get the flexibility and support to work from home or remotely. The successful candidate will be able to utilize our balanced working model. We ask that candidates live within a commutable distance of our New Delhi office to ensure that as a balanced worker they can make it to our office locations to collaborate as required. There is an expectation for a minimum of 3 days per week in-person time.
