Role overview

We are seeking a dynamic, internationally connected and strategically minded Editor-in-Chief to lead Wiley's prestigious chemistry portfolio, for interdisciplinary journals with a focus on chemical engineering and renewable energy. Working closely with Wiley colleagues, the journal’s editorial board and the wider research community, the Editor-in-Chief will shape the journal’s editorial direction, strengthen its reputation and visibility, attract influential content, and uphold the highest standards of editorial integrity, peer review and publishing ethics.

How you will make an impact

  • Define and implement the journal’s editorial strategy in collaboration with the editorial board and other key stakeholders.
  • Strengthen the journal’s position in the international research community by identifying emerging areas, commissioning high-quality content, and developing opportunities for reviews, perspectives, commentaries, special issues and thematic collections.
  • Lead, develop and engage the journal’s editorial board, ensuring appropriate subject coverage, international representation, active participation and alignment with the journal’s strategic goals.
  • Promote best practices in publishing ethics, research integrity, peer review, open research and author service.
  • Represent the journal, and adjacent Chemistry journals at conferences, workshops, institute visits and virtual outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with Wiley colleagues across editorial, marketing, publishing, production, society publishing, communications and analytics teams to support journal development and performance.
  • Support a culture of collaboration, transparency, inclusion and high performance across the journal team and editorial community.

Qualifications

  • A PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline (e.g., chemical engineering, environmental science, energy technology, or carbon capture and storage), with a strong international research profile in renewable energy.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas: greenhouse gas science, carbon capture, storage, transport and utilization, and climate-change mitigation technologies, alongside sustainable biofuels, bioproducts, bio-renewables and biorefining.
  • A broad, interdisciplinary outlook with strong understanding of scientific publishing, peer review and research integrity, and the ability to engage researchers across academia, industry, government and policy communities.
  • Excellent communication, networking and strategic thinking skills, with a collaborative, diplomatic leadership style to represent the journal externally and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and sound judgment, with a strong commitment to advancing high-quality science and open research, and willingness to travel to represent the journal as needed.
