Role overview
We are looking for a Group Shared Services (GSS) Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Sydney. Reporting to the GSS Senior Accountant, you will play an important role in ensuring the timely and accurate financial accounting, reporting, and reconciliations across multiple international entities, with a particular focus on the APAC and EMEA regions.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant looking to build broad exposure across financial accounting, reporting, month-end processes, and international finance operations within a global organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate financial accounting transactions including cash, fixed assets, prepayments, and intercompany journals.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Support the monthly financial close, including preparing working papers, accruals, and month-end reporting.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and process monthly depreciation.
- Manage prepayment schedules and monthly amortisation.
- Complete daily and monthly cash flow reconciliations.
- Assist regional commercial finance teams during month-end and annual budgeting processes.
- Support half-year and year-end reporting activities, including audit preparation and coordination.
- Assist with VAT, FBT, and other statutory reporting requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Help maintain strong financial controls and support compliance with Breville policies and accounting standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Group Shared Services function.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role.
- CPA or CA qualification completed or currently in progress.
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to take ownership and continuously improve processes.
